Just a 50-minute drive from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Amakhala Game Reserve offers the ultimate malaria-free safari adventure.

Guided by an expert ranger in an open safari vehicle, you’ll journey through Amakhala’s vast wilderness — home to the Big 5, as well as cheetah, giraffe, zebra, black wildebeest, and a wide variety of antelope and birdlife.

Whether you’re visiting the region on a tight schedule or simply looking for a memorable day out in nature, this safari experience ticks all the boxes.

What to Expect on Your Day Safari

Arrive at 09h00 for a warm welcome, easy check-in, and a short orientation before your adventure begins. At 09h30, join your experienced ranger and set off on an exciting guided safari through the breathtaking Amakhala Game Reserve.

After your morning in the wild, unwind and savour a delicious 2-course lunch with two refreshing soft drinks at 12h30. Guests joining the full-day safari can look forward to even more wildlife encounters with a second game drive from 13h30 to 15h00 — the perfect ending to an unforgettable day surrounded by nature.

Itinerary:	09h00: Arrive at the Day Safari Welcome Centre for orientation and to meet your ranger 09h30 – 12h30: Guided Day Safari through Amakhala Game Reserve 12h30 – 13h30: Enjoy a delicious 2-course lunch and two soft drinks 13h30 – 15h00: Head out for a second 1.5-hour game drive for more unforgettable wildlife moments (Full-Day option only)

Child Policy:	Children 6 years plus welcome. A private game vehicle can be booked for groups with children under 6 yrs of age. Subject to availability. Contact us for the rates. Maximum of 2 children per adult per booking.
Cancellation Policy:	More than 7 days – no cancellation fee 7 days or less – 25% cancellation fee 3 days or less – 50% cancellation fee 48 hours or less – 100% cancellation fee
T's & C's Apply:	Bookings are essential and must be made a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Minimum requirement of 2 adults per confirmation.

Directions:

Convenient Location: Easily reached from Port Elizabeth, Grahamstown, and Addo.

Drive along the N2 from Port Elizabeth towards Grahamstown for 60 km.
Pass the R342 turn-off to Paterson and continue for about 2 km.
About 1 km before the R342 Karel Landman turn-off on your right. Enter through the gate at Leeuwenbosch Country House.
Park on the grass to the left. Staff will meet you and guide you to the Day Safari Welcome Centre (ARCC).
